Rates for editing manuscripts:

We charge by the word, and the rate varies according to how difficult an edit the manuscript is. For a light edit, (three or no more than four corrections per page) we ask for 1 or 1.5 cents a word. The top rate is variable -- for a really needy manuscript, it can go as high as 5 cents. Most manuscripts will fall somewhere in between. A medium-difficult edit should be charged at about 2 or 3 cents per word of manuscript.

The reason for charging by the word and not the page is that pages can contain very different numbers of words, depending upon the font which the writer has chosen.

For a firm estimate, email us a sample of the work in question, and we'll email back the edited sample and let you know what rate we are requesting. Zipped or tarred/gzipped files are preferred, since they are less likely than text files to be damaged in transit and a lot quicker to download.

Payment should be made by credit-card through our Pay Pal accounts or by personal cheque.
